We love them because they are easy to use and the food comes out so moist and tender. Use one smoker bag for the entire meal. Put your fish, meats or poultry in the smoker bag. Add your vegetables and potatoes then follow the bag instructions for grilling; generally grill about 20 minutes. If you wish to have the meat brown, just cut about a 10" slice in the top of the bag during the last ten minutes of cooking. There is no need to turn these bags over. Savu smoker bags utilize a 3-ply design where natural wood chips are inserted in the bottom layer.
Although the bags are not reusable, we love the easy clean up and great taste. We've tried these bags with chicken, salmon, swordfish, ribs and many vegetables. They are a real delight! Great for barbeques at home, picnics and campsites.
Cook's Illustrated magazine had
this to say: Highly Recommended - This simple system—a mixture of
ground wood chips, hardwood syrup, and natural sugars contained within
the walls of
a large foil bag—allowed the smoke to pass through small perforations in
the foil to get to the food contained within.
The ribs emerged juicy, tender, and—after a quick run under the
broiler—nicely crusted.
